Larry Litton

Thomas O. Barnes is a 2009 Star of Hope Honoree for JDRF’s North Central Connecticut and Western Massachusetts Chapter’s 2009 Promise Ball.

Tom Barnes’s business background started in 1972 when he received a BA in business from the University of Hartford. He then earned his MBA from UCONN in 1978. During the 70’s, Tom worked for Barnes Group’s Bowman Distribution division in Cleveland. Returning to Connecticut during the 80’s, Tom served as Vice President for Carpenter Construction, Assistant Vice President for Connecticut Bank and Trust Co., and finally as President of Olson Brothers. During this time, Tom also served as a director for Barnes Group. In 1993, Tom became a Senior Vice President for Barnes Group Inc. and in 1995, he was elected Chairman of the Board. He is the fifth-generation member of the Barnes Group’s founding family to serve the company.

Outside Barnes Group, Tom Barnes is a director of BW Manufacturing Co., Chapman Machine Co., Valley Bank and New England Bank Shares. He is also trustee and secretary of West Cemetery Association, Past Chairman of The Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and a partner in Green Acres Farm in Bristol.

Following a long tradition of public service by the Barnes family and Barnes Group, Tom is a leader in the organizational and philanthropic direction of several community organizations. Currently he is a director of Renbrook School, Main Street Community Foundation, Bristol Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scouts of America, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, NCCJ and the Connecticut Center for Science and Exploration. He is trustee for the American Clock Museum and the Bristol Family Center for Boys and Girls. Tom is a past director for United Way and a past Vice Chair of the campaign. He is past president of the Environmental Learning Center, Renbrook School, chairman of Bristol Hospital, Inc. and Greater Bristol Health Services Corporation. He is also former chairman of CBIA, Connecticut’s largest business organization. He is also a member of the Bushnell Board of Trustees.

Larry Litton is a 2009 Star of Hope Honoree for JDRF’s North Central Connecticut and Western Massachusetts Chapter’s 2009 Promise Ball.

Larry Litton was assigned to the position of Park President of Six Flags New England on September 6, 2006 after serving as the vice president and general manager of Six Flags Elitch Gardens, Denver, Colorado. Prior to joining Six Flags, Mr. Litton spent 26 years in the hospitality industry, where he won awards for his focus and success at a variety of levels, ranging from product quality and presentation to employee training and guest service. Mr. Litton’s record of experience was invaluable in Elitch Gardens’ accomplishments, and it is that pedigree that enables Six Flags New England to continue its track record of successes and maintain its place as one of the jewels in the Six Flags system.

Since joining the team at Six Flags New England, Mr. Litton has immersed himself into the business and philanthropic community. Larry sits on numerous boards throughout the Pioneer Valley including: the Economic Development Council of Western Massachusetts, Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau, West of the River Chamber of Commerce and New England’s International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions. Mr. Litton is also very active in his home community and lends his time and talent to the Canton school district, Canton Youth Sports and Recreation and is title sponsor for the Avon based charity Gifts of Love. Mr. Litton and his family are avid theme park enthusiasts and are proud to call Six Flags New England and the New England area home.
