Finger is the 2008 Star of Hope Honoree for JDRF’s North Central Connecticut and Western Massachusetts Chapter’s 2008 Promise Ball. Steve Finger was appointed President of Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies Corporation (NYSE:UTX), in March 2006. He is responsible for the company’s global operations in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, space propulsion systems and industrial gas turbines. With an installed engine base of 67,000, an unmatched global service network, and strong partnerships in building and servicing engines, the company reported revenues of $11.1 billion in 2006. Prior to this appointment, Steve was President of UTC’s Sikorsky Aircraft division, one of the world's leading manufacturers of helicopters. Steve has been with United Technologies Corporation for more than 35 years in both government and commercial sectors of the aerospace business. He began his career with UTC at Pratt & Whitney in 1970 as a design engineer and held positions of increasing responsibility culminating in the position of President, Military Engines and Executive Vice President, Pratt & Whitney Operations and Engineering before taking over at Sikorsky in 2003. Steve received a BS in aerospace engineering from the University of Virginia in 1970. He was a Sloan Fellow at MIT, earning an MS in management in 1996. He received an honorary Doctorate of Engineering from the University of New Haven in January 2006. He serves on the Executive Committee of the Aerospace Industries Association and is a member of the American Helicopter Society, Air Force Association and American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. He holds two patents, for turbine vane cooling and jet engine control scheduling. Past Honorees
